While AuthorityROI Training Course was still in the thinking stages, two young guys, each a known authority in their particular niches spoke at the “break out” bonus session at the 2013 Traffic and Conversion Summit.
Their topic? “Authority Blogging”.
From their hot-seat they answered questions and gave great information about becoming an authority, and the disadvantages of doing blogging the same ole’ same ole’ as everybody else is doing.
The two gentlemen in question are Tim Young and Eric Prelic – known best as authorities in the survival markets.
The break out session started with a surprise right away, the guys revealed that Authority Blogging wasn’t about giving away free content. Their reason was because it doesn’t do a good job positioning you as the Authority. It is best to have your readers opt-in on a low ticket offer. Then do follow-ups with different offers.
As far as video content they said that YouTube was the best place – because it was in the younger generations comfort zone.
Another important take away was to learn that as an Authority it is your business NOT you that is the brand because the business will be able to continue should something happen.
It is important to be prepared and test and re-test. Fix it if it’s not working and realise that the internet evolves and things can change in a flash.
When choosing your niche don’t be too different. Keep track of good trends and follow them. You can check trends on Google Trends and see whats on the front page of Huffington post. Curating content is a proven method of being an Authority but that doesn’t mean ripping off peoples content.
Its important to be original in all your content including images. Also if everyone else who is curating the same content, like “Here is what happened…
” Be original and say “Here is what happened… and this is why it was dumb…”
This turns your curated piece into an authority editorial piece.
Tracking is very important. If you have something on your site that is negative or doing poorly then remove it. Tie your stuff in with social media for immediate reactions. The OLD MEDIA still works.
They also covered how to use PR Web for promoting articles that have already proved themselves.
Teaming up with name bloggers for guest posts so you can get your content written for you. But if it sucks don’t post it.
Several different ways to get other people to write your Authority content for you. There are different places they like to hang out and there are specific places the influencer’s can be found. These are the people you want to have for your Authority Site.
You can grow your Authority site into 8 figures with only a managing editor and a social media person. Everything else can be outsourced. Make sure the managing editor you choose isn’t boring and likes to stir things up.
Choose a market that has a passionate following.
That was just some of the highlights but you can see how being an Authority Blogger can be quite lucrative. Find out more about Ryan Deiss’s training course Authority ROI.
